If - like me - you detest drink stains on furniture, then you know that you can never have too many coasters. These beautiful coasters are unbelievably simple to make and are the perfect project for a beginner crocheter.
I would recommend using a cotton yarn. Of course, you can use any yarn you would like, but I find (from trial and error) that cotton works best.

Materials:
4mm crochet hook.
a yarn of your choice.
scissors.
a darning needle.
Stitch Abbreviations:
dc: double crochet
tr: treble crochet
Pattern Notes:
This pattern is worked in UK terms.
The chain 3 at the beginning of each round does count as a stitch.
This coaster is made in rounds. Do not turn at the end of each round.
Method:
Round 1:
Make a magic ring (if you are unsure how to do this, check out my post here).
Chain 3.
Into the ring, make 15 tr.
Slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain 3 to close the round. (16 tr in total)
Round 2:
Chain 3.
In the next stitch, make 1 tr.
Chain 2.
In the next 2 stitches, make 1 tr.
Repeat the last two steps around (you will finish with a chain 2).
Slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain 3 to close the round. (16 tr in total)
Round 3:
Sl st across into the first chain 2 space.
Chain 3. In that same space, make: 1tr, chain 2, 2tr.
Working around in each chain 2 space, make: 2 tr, chain 2, 2 tr.
Slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain 3 to close the round.
Round 4:
Slip stitch across into the first chain 2 space.
Chain 3. In the same stitch, make: 2 tr, chain 2, 3 tr.
Working into the next chain 2 space, make: 3 tr, chain 2, 3 tr.
Slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain 3 to close the round.
Round 5:
Chain 1. Make 1 dc in the same stitch.
Skip over the next 3 tr. In the chain 2 space, make 7 dc.
Skip over the next 3 tr and make 1 dc in the next gap.
Repeat the last two steps around. (You will end with 7 dc.)
Slip stitch into the beginning dc to close the round.
Fasten off, cut your yarn and sew in any ends.
And there you are! You now have your own crochet coasters!
