If you have already made my Christmas Tree Bunting, then you will already know how to create the Christmas tree paper pattern!
Here is a video for extra help:
What You Will Need:
Green felt
5" of narrow ribbon
Embroidery thread (festive colours like gold/silver)
Toy stuffing
General hand sewing equipment
General drawing equipment
Method:
The Paper Pattern:
On a piece of paper, draw a horizontal line, measuring 2".
From the centre of this line draw a vertical line, measuring 1.5".
Connect the top of the vertical line to the ends of the horizontal line to create a triangle.
From the centre of the bottom line of your first triangle, draw a vertical line measuring 2.5". But, 1" of this line will be going through the top triangle. (See picture below for extra help.)
From the bottom of this second vertical line, draw a horizontal line measuring 3".
Connect the lines to make a second triangle.
To make the last triangle draw a vertical line 3" long, with 1"going through the second triangle. (In a similar fashion as before.)
Draw a 4" horizontal line along the bottom.
Connect all points to make a third triangle.
In the centre of the bottom line of the third triangle, draw a rectangle measuring 0.5" by 1".
Cut this shape out and you have a Christmas tree!
Making the Trees:
Cut two of your Christmas trees out of the green felt.
On one of your felt trees, make small marks all over it, where you would like the stars to be.
Take your embroidery thread and create a vertical stitch on one mark, then another across it, and continue doing this approx. six times until you make a star.
Continue sewing stars on each mark.
Place your two felt trees wrong sides together.
Starting from the bottom, sew them together using a blanket stitch.
Once you come to the point of the tree, fold your ribbon in half, and tuck it between the felt.
You can then continue sewing around the tree until you come approx. 2" away from where you started.
Stuff the tree until firm.
Sew the rest closed, and you are done!
