I discovered fire cider a couple of years ago and now I would not be without it. It is so full of immune boosting, antibacterial and even antibiotic ingredients. And it is completely natural and healthy. You can purchase this ready made from the shops but not only is it much cheaper to make yourself but it actually tastes better.
The main ingredient is cider vinegar. I am just getting that out there now and, before you run away, quickly reassure you. The longer this sits the more it mellows out. If you make it now and leave it until the winter you will have quite an inoffensive if not tasty drink that I like to add to soda or tonic water.
I am not saying that it will replace your beverage of choice as this is first and foremost a health tonic but it can be, (surprisingly, with these ingredients) a pleasant drink.
I keep this stored in a dark, cool place and if ever one of the family are feeling run down, have been around someone who has a cold, or have the first inklings of a cold themselves, this is our first port of call.
I rather enjoy it and find it quite refreshing and the rest of the family will happily tolerate it!
What are a few of the benefits?

Homemade Fire Cider Tonic
Method:
Take a large clean jar (around 1.5ltrs) with a firm fitting lid.
Roughly chop 200g fresh chopped ginger and 200g of freshly chopped turmeric.
Place ginger and turmeric in the jar with 1tsp of cayenne, 5-6 bay leaves, 250g honey, 12g salt, and 1ltr of cider vinegar.
Stir well, secure the lid and store in a dark cool spot for at least 2 months until you use it. It will keep, if stored correctly, indefinitely
Serve strained, 1 part fire cider to 4 parts mixer, with ice and tonic water or juice and add more honey to taste.
