In my last post I showed you how to sew the six most basic embroidery stitches for beginners. Well here are four more, but three of these are a bit different : woven wheel stitch is used to create a flower, fishbone stitch is a leaf, and lazy daisy stitch creates petals.
You Will Need:
A hoop
Embroidery thread
Embroidery needle
Fabric marker/water erasable pen
There is also this video to help:
Chain Stitch:
Bring the needle up through the wrong side of the fabric.
Push the needle back down close to where you brought it up.
Bring the tip of the needle up a space away, keeping the back still in the fabric.
Wrap your thread clockwise around your needle.
Pull the needle through.
Push the needle back down the fabric creating one chain and repeat the process.
Woven Wheel Stitch:
Draw a circle on your fabric
Draw five lines in the circle, as depicted in the picture below.
Sew a stitch across each of these lines.
Bring your needle back up, through the middle.
Weave in and out of the five stitches.
Continue weaving until you come to the end of the lines of stitching.
Fishbone Stitch:
Draw a leaf shape on your fabric, then draw a straight line through it.
Push your needle up through the fabric, at the bottom of the leaf shape, slightly to one side of the line.
Push your needle back down through the fabric, half way up the leaf, on the opposite side of the line.
Repeat with the other side.
Carry on doing these steps, gradually travelling up until you get to the end of the leaf.
Lazy Daisy Stitch:
Push your needle up through the fabric.
Just next to it, push your needle back down, but do not pull the thread tight.
A space away from this loop (however big you want the petal to be) bring your needle up.
Bring your needle through the loop of thread.
Tighten the loop.
Push your needle back down through the fabric.
