I think this crochet water bottle holder is the perfect project for summer. A water bottle is a necessity in the hot weather, but they are just so cumbersome to carry around - especially if you are out all day! That is why I think having something to carry it in is essential.
This pattern is reasonably straight forward. Plus, it is very easy to make larger or smaller - every water bottle is a different size, after all! The amount of rows that I have done is simply a guideline. Feel free to add or take away as many rows as you would like!

Materials:
50g cotton yarn
4mm crochet hook
scissors
darning needle
stitch marker
tape measure (optional)
water bottle (for measuring purposes)
Stitch Abbreviations:
ch: chain(s)
dc: double crochet
tr: treble crochet
sl st: slip stitch
st: stitch(es)
Pattern Notes:
This pattern is worked in UK terms.
It is worked in a continuous round. Do not turn your work at the end of each row.
The chain 3 at the beginning of the row does count as a stitch.
How is it Made?
We start by making the base of the cover. From here, we then work the sides and finally the handle.
Measurements:
(This pattern is for a standard size.)
Base: 3 inches diameter
Sides: 10 inches
Strap: 27 inches
Method:
For the base:
Round 1:
Begin by making a magic ring, and chain 1.
Into the ring, make 6 dc. (6 dc in total)
Round 2:
Make 1 increase in each stitch around. (12 dc in total)
Round 3:
Make *1 dc in the first st, 1 increase in the next*.
Continue like this around. (18 dc in total)
Round 4:
Make *1 dc in the first 2 st, 1 increase in the next*.
Continue like this around. (24 dc in total)
Round 5:
Make *1 dc in the first 3 st, 1 increase in the next*.
Continue like this around. (30 dc in total)
Round 6:
Make *1 dc in the first 4 st, 1 increase in the next*.
Continue like this around. (36 dc in total)
Round 7:
Make *1 dc in the first 5 st, 1 increase in the next*.
Continue like this around. (42 dc in total)
For the Sides:
Round 8:
Make 1 tr in each st around.
Sl st into the top of the first tr.
Chain 3. (do not turn your work) (42 tr in total)
Rounds 9 - 11:
Make 1 tr in each st around.
Sl st into the chain 3 to close the round.
Chain 3. (42 tr in total)
Round 12:
*Chain 5, skip the next 3 st, sl st into the 4th.*
Repeat from * around until you have 2 st remaining. (You should finish this round with a sl st).
Round 13:
Begin this round by chaining 5 and sl st into the 3rd chain of the previous loop.
*Chain 5, sl st into the 3rd chain of the next loop.*
Rounds 14-17:
Continue around in this way until you reach round 17.
As you will have noticed, these rows are worked in a continuous round. Make sure you mark where your first st.
Round 18:
You will have finished round 17 with a sl st. To start this round, begin by chaining 1.
Into the same loop, make 2 dc.
In the next loop, make 4 dc.
Continue around, making 4 dc in each loop.
At the end of the round, sl st into the first dc.
Rounds 19 - 20:
Chain 3.
Make 1 tr in each st around.
Sl st into the chain 3 to close the round.
Round 21:
Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch).
Make 1 dc in each stitch around.
Sl st into the first dc to close the round.
Round 22:
*Chain 5, skip the next 3 st, sl st into the 4th.*
Repeat from * around until you have 2 st remaining. (You should finish this round with a sl st).
Round 23:
(As before) begin this round by chaining 5 and sl st into the 3rd chain of the previous loop.
*Chain 5, sl st into the 3rd chain of the next loop.*
Rounds 24 - 27:
Continue around in this way until you reach round 27.
As you will have noticed, these rows are worked in a continuous round. Make sure you mark where your first st.
Round 28:
You will have finished round 27 with a sl st. To start this round, begin by chaining 1.
Into the same loop, make 2 dc.
In the next loop, make 4 dc.
Continue around, making 4 dc in each loop.
At the end of the round, sl st into the first dc.
Round 29 - 31:
Chain 3.
Make 1 tr in each stitch around.
Sl st into the chain 3 to close the round.
For the strap:
Note: You can make the strap any length you want. This is only a guideline.
Round 1:
Chain 3 (does count as a stitch).
Make 1 tr in the next 2 stitches.
Ch 3 and turn.
Rounds 2 - 60:
Make 1 tr in the next 2 sts.
Chain 3 and turn.
Attaching the Strap:
Mark where you want the other side of the strap to be.
Sl st along both edges to attach it. (4 sl st in total).
Fasten off, cut your yarn, and sew in any ends.
