If you have not already guessed, I love books. And I mean really love. I am the type of person (like my sister) who takes a book wherever I go; the type who brings a backup book (or five) on holiday in case I finish the one I am currently reading. My family and I can sit and talk about books for hours.
We really love everything to do with books.
In this post, I am going to teach you how to create this gorgeous lace corner crochet bookmark. It is also a really simple pattern that is super easy to adapt if you to make it smaller or larger. If you have not already, I have a pattern for a regular bookmark which you can find here too.

Materials:
Thin cotton yarn (the lighter in weight the better)
2.5mm crochet hook
Scissors
Darning Needle
Stitch marker (optional)
A book (for measuring purposes)
Stitch Abbreviations:
dc: double crochet
tr: treble crochet
sl st: slip stitch
Pattern Notes:
This pattern is worked in UK terms (you can find my post explaining the difference between UK and US terms here).
The chain 3 at the beginning of the round does count as a double crochet.
This bookmark is a standard size. Feel free to make it larger or smaller, depending on your book size!
How is it made?
First, we make two triangles, one bigger than the other (the back one). From here, we then join two of the edges together, creating a border.
Method:
Round 1:
Create a magic ring (if you are unsure how to do this, check out my post here).
Chain 3.
Into the ring, make 2 tr.
Pull your ring closed.
Chain 3 and turn.
Round 2:
Make 2 tr in the same stitch.
Chain 3.
Skip the next stitch, and make 3 tr in the last stitch.
Chain 3 and turn.
Round 3:
Make 2 tr in the same stitch.
Chain 3.
Make 1 dc in the chain 3 space from the previous row.
Chain 3.
Make 3 tr in the last stitch.
Chain 3 and turn.
Round 4:
Make 2 tr in the same stitch.
Chain 3.
Make 1 dc in the chain 3 space. Make 3 tr in the next stitch (the dc from the previous row). Finally, make 1 dc in the next chain 3 space.
Chain 3
Make 3 tr in the last stitch.
Chain 3 and turn.
Round 5:
Make 2 tr in the same stitch.
Chain 3.
Make 1 dc in the chain 3 space.
Chain 3.
Skip over the first tr, and make 1 dc in the second tr stitch.
Chain 3.
Make 1 dc in the chain 3 space.
Chain 3 and make 3 tr in the last stitch.
Chain 3 and turn.
Round 6:
Make 2 tr in the first stitch.
Chain 3.
Make 1 dc in the chain 3 space, 3 tr in the next stitch, and 1 dc in the next chain 3 space.
Chain 3.
Make 1 dc in the chain 3 space, 3 tr in the next stitch, and 1 dc in the next chain 3 space.
Chain 3, and make 3 tr in the last stitch.
Chain 3 and turn.
Round 7 - 12:
Continue in this way for 6 more rows (creating chain 3 spaces with 1 dc to separate, and tr clusters with 1 dc either side).
For the front panel, crochet 12 rows in total.
For the back panel, crochet 14 rows in total.
Fasten off and cut your yarn.
Assembling the Pieces:
Lay your smaller triangle on top, matching the corners together. Secure with a stitch marker.
Attach the yarn to the bottom corner of your back triangle, and chain 1. Make 1 dc in each stitch along the edge. When you reach the second triangle, dc into both pieces. Continue until you reach the corner.
Make 3 dc at the top.
Continue to make 1 dc in each stitch down the second side. At the end, fasten off, cut your yarn and sew in all of the ends.
And there you are! You now have your own lace corner bookmark!
